Hi, everyone! Today I’d like to share with you some new words from “Dracula”.

  • In haste [ɪnˈheɪst] — without careful thought (на скорую руку, второпях)
  • Furtively [ˈfɚtɪvli] — secretly (украдкой)
  • Thwart [θwɔɚt]– to stop smth from happening (помешать, воспрепятствовать)
  • To be thunderstruck [ˈθəndɚstrək]– to be very surprised (быть пораженным, ошеломленным)

Also, I want to tell you some things about my expectations. I can undoubtedly say that now I find the book more interesting than before. The first chapter was kind of boring for me as there were lots of descriptions, that I don’t really like to read, and I was a little bit upset. However, the next chapters were quite different so I changed my mind about the book. I’ve already read 12 chapters, which are full of fascinating events, but I’m sure that there will be many exciting things in the next ones. Now I’m looking forward to discovering more facts about Professor Van Helsing because this character seems really smart and wise. Also, there are many wonderful quotes in the book and it’s such a pleasure for me to read them and think of their meaning. I hope I’ll enjoy reading next chapters, just like now.
